 eine Ort Pöide liegt auf der estnischen Ostseeinsel Saaremaa. Pöide ist 
 berühmt für seine imposante Kirche mit Festungsturm aus dem 13. Jahrhund
 ert. Die Kirche ist für eine Dorfkirche ungewöhnlich groß und massiv. A
 ußerdem verfügt sie über eine gute Akustik und kunstvolle Skulpturen. S
 eit Anfang 2012 existiert eine Stiftung\, die sich den Erhalt der vom Eins
 turz bedrohten Kirche\, der umliegenden Gebäude sowie des Geländes zur A
 ufgabe gemacht hat. Zudem ist geplant\, die Gebäude als Lern- und Besuche
 rzentren umzubauen. Durch staatliche Zuschüsse konnten bereits das Dach u
 nd die Fenster der Kirche renoviert werden. Mithilfe der IBO-Freiwilligen 
 wurden in den letzten Jahren der Raum zwischen der Kirche und dem Pfarrhau
 s bereinigt und der Park wieder freigelegt. 2017 sind Renovierungsarbeiten
  am alten Pfarrhaus\, im (zukünftigen) Besucherzentrum sowie im Park gepl
 ant. Zudem werden Steinmauern gebaut und Wege auf dem Gelände angelegt.\n

  a magnificent gothic church on the small Saaremaa Island. It is one of th
 e largest and the oldest standing building in Estonia. During the Soviet e
 ra the building was in disrepair. After the war it had no roof and its int
 erior was looted. The church was out of use for 40 years. In the 1990s the
  congregation was reestablished and the renovation began. The church is a 
 popular tourist attraction. It also houses a small but growing congregatio
 n. The Estonian government has ordered a professional renovation company t
 o repair the old building. The church has a new roof and the windows are b
 eing repaired. The Soviet era also left a mark on the church surroundings.
  In the 1990s the church was overgrown. With the help of IBO volunteer the
  space between the church\, the manor and the park could be cleaned up. 20
 17 renovation works in the church park\, in the old manor and in the (futu
 re) visitor center are planned. Additionally the volunteers will build sto
 ne walls and footpaths.\n\nWork: stone work\, demolition works\, cleaning
